We are thrilled to share that we have a new partner added to our BUCCAL-PEP consortium. Since March 1st, the University of Aveiro located in Aveiro Portugal, has been part of our consortium. Together with the BUCCAL-PEP partners, they were awarded the Hop-On grant.
The University of Aveiro will contribute to the consortium by employing polysaccharide-based biomaterials with adhesive properties to produce
bioinspired patches adequate to be fixed into the inner cheek of the buccal cavitie and deliver therapeutic peptide analogues through the mucosa. These highly innovative materials will be programmed to be able to be adhesive in wet conditions over human tissues and disintegrate within an adequate time frame, resulting in products that are safe for human health.
